Results and final considerations

The 44th mission started from July 11th and finished July 17th 2020. The 44th edition presents participants from Philippines, Germany, India and Brazil. The members of the mission 44 are Arvin Tan (Philippines), Niklas H. (Germany), Nikita Divay (India) and Julio Rezende (Brazil). The mission presents Jas Purewal (England), Varsha Shankar (Canada) and Eva Blaisdell (United States) as invited researchers.

This mission tried to answer some of this questions:

- How many astronauts are necessary to operate the station?

- The quantity of resources necessary for it?

- What are the resources possible to generate in situ or carried from Earth?

- Other technical requirements for each facility and other more deep elements?

The program of the mission was:

Sol 1: July, 11th, 2020 (Saturday): 12h-13h GMT: presentation of prof. Julio Rezende about space analog virtual mission.

Sol 2: July, 12th, 2020 (Sunday): 12h-13h30m GMT: presentation of prof. Julio Rezende about Main station and also presentation in Habitat Marte.

Sol 3: July, 13th, 2020 (Monday): 14h-15h GMT:  presentation of Varsha about Launch center and  Jas Purewal about Engineering center.

Sol 4: July 14th, 2020 (Tuesday): 1PM-2PM GMT: video about missions to Mars.

Sol 5: July 15th, 2020 (Wednesday): 12h-13h GMT: presentation of Arvin Tan about Powerstation and  Niklas about Sanitation Center.

Sol 6: July 16th, 2020 (Thursday): 13h-15h GMT: presentation of Davi Souza about Health Center and Nikita Divay about greenhouse in Mars.

Sol 7: July 17th, 2020 (Friday): 12h-13h30m GMT: Final meeting.

Sols 8, 9 and 10: July 17th-20th, 2020 (Saturday-Monday): visit to Habitat Marte e preparation of the report.

All presentations were recorded by the first time and released in Youtube channel and also shared in Twitter and Facebook. Was prepared an abstract to 23rd Annual International Mars Society Convention about the operation of the Powerstation.

Evaluating sustainability issues related to operation of the health center would consider how to recycle hospital needles or sharp wastes. To deal with Health Waste a possible technology would be the use of a  plasma chamber to transform all waste in ashes.

Was considered important evaluate the life cycle of the plants in Habitat Marte and identified the necessity of new procedures about. Was identitied important bring  agriculture researchers to support the processes related to food production techniques. Rio Grande do Norte State present a very good agriculture school: Escola Agrícola de Jundiaí – EAJ (www.eaj.ufrn.br), a faculty of Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN (www.ufrn.br).
