Habitat Marte space analog station station is located in Brazilian semiarid, in rural area of Caiçara do Rio do Vento, 100 km from capital Natal in Rio Grande do Norte State, starting the operations during December 2017.
Habitat Marte achieved in 6 years of operation:
+ 1000 participants;
+ 190 missions;
+ 700 videos in Youtube Channel;
+ 40 countries.
Habitat Marte is the only space analog station operating in the Southern hemisphere. During space simulation missions, analog astronauts follow space station protocols and routines.
In Habitat Marte, food is cultivated in a greenhouse using aquaponic technologies. During Extravehicular Activities (EVA) spacesuits are used to simulate to be in the Mars landscape.
